A Night at the Monday night December 28, 2020 at the Fleischer’s in
Fleischer’s Guangzhou music not only evoked guests’ hearing but
also the other senses – taste, touch, even smell and vision.
By Dr. Harley Seyedin The superbly designed evening welcomed the eyes with
festive Christmas decorations suggesting the coming of a
new year – one kinder and gentler than the one outgoing.
Elegance alone could not describe the style, sophistication
and grace which had gone into preparing the place for a
musical debut and a large number of who’s who in the city.

The soft deliberate lighting and sweet smell of scented
candles mingled with the beautifully arranged stations
offering luscious, succulent and scrumptious selection of
foods making one’s mouth water at first sight.

The rich and creamy sound of jazz brilliantly performed on
the piano by virtuoso Franz von Chossy, accompanied by
Tommy Liang on bass and Wilson Chai on drums, pleased
the soul as would a smooth heavenly breeze brushing
against one’s face.

As if the amazing touch of Ms. Yingchun Gong-Fleischer had not been impressive enough, the evening ended in
a surprise performance by German Consul General Martin Fleischer. His performance on the bass accompanied
by Franz von Chossy combined two virtuosos who awakened every emotion within with tranquility. Martin’s
performance brought out a truly polished professional musician hiding in a diplomat’s clothing.

Franz von Chossy is an internationally renowned jazz pianist. He was professor of jazz piano at Rotterdam University
of the Arts and now teaches at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Modern Music and Drama. He has performed at
the Lincoln Center, Royal Netherlands Concert Hall and other internationally renowned concert halls and festivals.
