industrial machine, the first railway bridge, the first F-class heavy duty
gas turbine and the first bottle of dry red wine in China. Qinhuangdao is
also a world class auto wheel hub manufacture base, the biggest aluminum
production and processing base in China, the largest grain and oil process-
ing base in North China, a national base for quality red dry wine a sea gate
for heavy equipment export, million-ton ship building base and digital
industrial base. The city’s four pillar industries of equipment manufactur-
ing, metal rolling, grain and oil processing, and glass industry are soaring
to match higher demands. New emerging, modern agriculture, and modern
service industries are also making improving and upgrading.
As a national pilot city for innovation, Qinhuangdao works hard to develop
high-tech industry and strategic emerging industry, thus established the
four new industrial clusters namely electronic information, new materials,
biological technology and energy conservation and environmental protec-
tion. With 13 colleges and universities that hold 150 000 undergraduates,
and 85 Engineering Research Centers above municipal level, the talent
density of this city ranks first in Hebei Province. Qinhuangdao is becoming
a city strong in science & technology, innovation and education in north
China.
Qinhuangdao has established economic exchanges and trade ties with over
170 countries and regions in the world, attracting investments from the
world’s top 500 and renowned multi-national corporations. Friendship and
cooperation with over 20 cities in U.S, Italy, Japan, South Korea and South
Africa has been established. Qinhuangdao is implementing the strategy
of building an economically strong city by opening up and presenting an
ecological friendly image by building a coastal destination for leisure and
