AmCham Roundtable with Guangzhou
Municipal Office on Business Environment
in Guangzhou

ON AUGUST 23RD, the American Chamber of Commerce Mr. Wu Shangwei
in South China and Guangzhou Municipal Commission Deputy Director of General,
of Commerce, successfully co-hosted a roundtable conference Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce
at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich. Special guests included Mr.
Aamod Omprakash, Economic Officer of U.S. Consulate
General Guangzhou, Mr. Wu Shangwei, Deputy Director
General of Guangzhou Municipal Commission of Commerce
and Ms. Liu Yonghong, Vice Director of Huang Pu Customs.
Companies’ representatives from various business fields were
in attendance.

Mr. Wu Shangwei showcased Guangzhou's prosperity as
well as its opportunities by presenting up-to-date economic
statistics of the city's impressive achievements. Mr. Jiao
Zhaohua, Vice Director from Guangzhou State Tax Bureau
then followed with a timely presentation on VAT tax reform,
whereupon he explained the considerations and policy-making
process behind the reform and its influence on business. The
conference concluded with a lively discussion ensuing among
the companies’ representatives and government leaders
surrounding relevant issues.
