New Sam’s Club
Pre-Grand Opening Day

The second phase of Merrill Lynch’s M.LIVE World, a key
commercial project of the Merrill Lynch Foundation Group
had its grand opening ceremony in Qianjin Street, Tianhe District,
Guangzhou on July 20. In the meantime, the Sam’s Club Store
under the world-famous Wal-Mart, was also introduced as one of
the major business partners of the mall. AmCham South China
hosted this event together with Sam’s Club officials. This grand
ceremony marks the beginning of a promising future exploring
business opportunities and mutual cooperation for both sides.

After a simple and grand opening ceremony, Merrill Lynch
M.LIVE World once again greeted an international retail
giant with open arms since IKEA entered the first phase of the
project in 2019.

The arrival of major international retail business giants like
Sam’s Club for instance has added a ‘new force’ towards the
initial formation of the Tianhe East business district, injecting
new vitality into the consumption philosophy and regional
economy of Tianhe East and even Guangzhou East, and
building an international market for Guangzhou.

The consumption center continues to increase in size
to achieve a stronger agglomeration effect, thus playing
an important role in promoting urban development and
rejuvenating the vitality of urban commercial development.

As a high-end membership-exclusive store owned by Wal-
Mart, a Fortune 500 company, Sam’s Club has a history of
more than 30 years since the first store opened in Midwest
City, Oklahoma, USA in April 1983.

In the early 1990s, Sam’s Club began to enter the international
market. Until now, Sam’s Club has more than 800 stores around
the world and has become one of the world's largest membership-
based stores, providing a high-quality shopping experience for
more than 50 million individuals and business members.
