Amcham-FCS Seminar on China’s
Intellectual Property Courts
ON OCTOBER 23, AmCham and FSC jointly hosted a seminar
on China’s Intellectual Property Courts: An Initial Evaluation
in Guangzhou. The seminar was attended by more than 65 corporate
members of AmCham. Special guests included: Mr. Charles Bennett,
U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, Mr. Harley Seyedin, President
of AmCham South China, and high ranking representatives from 18
foreign consulates in Guangzhou. The focal point of this seminar was
the current progress and development of Intellectual Property Courts
in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Two well-known IP experts,
Ms. Pan Liming and Dr. David C. Buxbaum both attorneys, analyzed
the IP reform, structure and operations of the IP Courts based on
law, statistics, and some related cases. Based upon their input, a
free discussion on how to improve the progress of the IP courts, was
held. This seminar provided an excellent opportunity for AmCham
corporate members and other parties to understand on-going
development of intellectual property protection in China.
