Forum of Key Foreign-invested
Enterprises in Guangzhou
In an effort to better understand the business state of the foreign-invested enterprises in Guangzhou, a
relevant forum was hosted by Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau on May 19. Mayor of Guangzhou
Municipal Government Mr. Wen Guohui stated that foreign-invested enterprises played a critical role in
promoting Guangzhou economic development, industrial transformation and further opening-up. As an
international business metropolis and an integrated transportation hub, Guangzhou boasts important
innovation platform systems as well as six one hundred-billion-level industrial clusters. AmCham South
China’s 2021 Special Report on the State of Business, released in Guangzhou on May 24, “shows that 99%
of the studied companies consider the business environment in Guangzhou excellent or good or neutral.”
said Dr. Harley Seyedin, President of AmCham South China. He added, “Over 95% of the studied companies
select Guangzhou as one of the investment destinations while 57% of the respondents consider Guangzhou
as the top spot in their global investment plan.”
Attending companies spoke highly of the business environment in Guangzhou and felt confident about its
future development. For instance, General Manager of Yum China Holdings, Inc. Guangzhou Market Sherry
Zheng acclaimed Guangzhou as an innovative city full of vitality. Director & General Manager of Meiji Ice
Cream (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. Takao Suzuki expressed that Meiji invested in companies manufacturing milk,
yogurt and candies in Zengcheng district, Guangzhou due to the positive business outlook of Guangzhou.
