2020 is unlike any year we have seen for the last century. Many of us have
experienced sorrow, anguish, loss, anxiety, and demise in one form or
another. We have been beaten down for months.
History has shown HOPE is very powerful in helping humankind to overcome
our utmost challenges. HOPE helps us to be resilient when we are most
vulnerable.
Hope is the most powerful natural vaccine we have!
AMCHAM’s Winter “HOPE” Ball celebrated a new HOPE with 2 related, yet
different experiences. Turkey with stuffing, a Bourbon Street replica, plenty of
Sazerac, with Dixie and Jazz playing in the background. It provided the guests
with a “Thanksgiving in New Orleans” feel, the first of 2 experiences.
Upon arrival of the main Ballroom, the 2nd experience, the “Hopeful Carnival”,
was seen, and felt everywhere. The 270-degree LED showed the first Message
of HOPE with Thai-style Lantern festival images. Each table was decorated
with fun masks, flamboyant feathers, and colorful beads to bring in positivity
and HOPE. An eclectic Dinner, ranging from pub food, to Etouffee sauce, drew
inspiration from Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras and New Orleans. Each course
was named to reflect HOPE and optimism through its ingredient or cooking
method. Brazilian Samba and Chinese New Year Lion Dance brought in even
more HOPE for us.
