Dr. Harley Seyedin Iwant to thank this year’s AmCham South China Nominations Committee.
President The 16-members represented many of our finest multinational companies
AmCham South China including Apple, Intel, Colgate Palmolive, TE, and Tyco. Their hard work
Vice Chairman resulted in substantial competition. Chaired by Clark Friedman, Chairman
U.S. China Economic and Trade of the Boston based Eastern American, the Nominations Committee opened
Policy, APCAC all positions including the President as well as all the officers and governors
for competition. The Nominating Committee heavily publicized the elections
to the members, and all corporate members were encouraged to nominate
any member or themselves for any position. All those who applied or were
nominated by others were determined eligible for office and included on the
ballot. The entire election process was conducted under the supervision of
Ernst and Young as auditors. They delivered an open and transparent election
bound to be an example for others to follow. The final results were tallied
and announced by Ernst and Young at the Chamber’s General Meeting on
December 5, 2017. I would like to congratulate and thank all those who were
elected or reelected. We should note that all Board positions serve with no
compensation at all.
The 2017 Global Forum was held in Guangzhou in December. China
President Xi Jinping claims, “The Fortune Global Forum is one of the most
influential forums on economic development in the world.” Since 1995, the
Fortune Global Forum has convened world leaders with the world’s largest
companies’ corporate chairs, presidents, and CEOs. The Fortune Global
Forum creates a valuable opportunity for the CEOs of the world’s biggest
multinational companies—the Fortune Global 500—to actively engage with
China and its leaders from both business and government.
Being a long-term supporter and partner of Guangdong Radio and
Television, AmCham South China was happy to attend the Guangzhou
International Documentary Festival 2017 and witness the launch of a new
elite talk show “Time of Lu”. The Guangzhou International Documentary Film
Festival is a state-endorsed documentary film festival held every year in the
city, and is one of the biggest documentary film festivals in China.
Finally, all of us at the AmCham South China would like to wish you and
yours a happy, prosperous, and successful new year. As always, we will always
be here to help you make that a reality.
