Mr Marco Avitabile has been officially selected as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Guangzhou
effective November 4, 2017.
Prior to this, Mr Marco Avitabile served as Regional Vice President Food & Beverage, Asia Pacific, Hyatt
Hotels & Resorts and was based in Hong Kong for over 9 years. As a Food & Beverage expert, Mr Marco
Avitabile was responsible for overseeing the preopening phase of Food & Beverage outlets at Hyatt
Hotels in Asia Pacific, particularly focusing on holistic concept actualization. He was also responsible for
supporting the Food & Beverage operations; including talent development, performance management
and strategic priorities, across Hyatt’s properties in the region.
Born into a family of enthusiastic hoteliers and restaurateurs, Mr Marco Avitabile started his career as
a 16-year-old apprentice in one of Germany’s leading hotels. After accumulating a wealth of experience
across Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and the UK in a number of Michelin starred restaurants such
as Le Grand Hotel Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, La Chevre d’Or, The Waterside Inn, La Maison Troisgros and
Antica Osteria del Ponte, Mr Marco Avitabile joined Hyatt in 1995 as Chef de Cuisine at Grand Hyatt
Hong Kong's Grissini restaurant. After taking on the role of opening chef at mezza9 in Grand Hyatt
Singapore, he served as Executive Chef at both Grand Hyatt Bangkok and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
“I feel extremely privileged to be selected as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Guangzhou. I look
forward to being a part of the team especially during this auspicious time when the hotel celebrates its
10th anniversary year in 2018”, said Mr Marco Avitabile.
Grand Hyatt Guangzhou, the most qualified storyteller in Zhujiang New Town, is heading to the next
ten years. Under the leadership of its General Manager - Mr Marco Avitabile, Grand Hyatt Guangzhou
will continue to strive for combining its brand concept with Guangzhou’s local customs, tourism culture
and authentic food culture to echo the brand personality of Grand Hyatt and the spirit of Zhujiang New
