Meeting with Director General of GD Department of Commerce
On the afternoon of September 22nd, AmCham South China President Dr.
Harley Seyedin and his team were well received by Mr. Zheng Jiangrong,
Director General of the Department of Commerce of GD Province and his
team. During the meeting, Dr. Harley provided an overview of the preliminary
conference schedule of the 2017 APCAC (The Asia-Pacific Council of American
Chambers of Commerce) Business Summit to be hosted by AmCham South
China next spring in Guangzhou. A detailed discussion ensued regarding the
organization of the 2017 APCAC Business Summit; which is expected to have
the full support of the Department of Commerce of GD Province.
Meeting with Vice Mayor of Yiwu City
On the morning of September 29th, AmCham South China President Harley
Seyedin warmly welcomed the visiting Vice Mayor of Yiwu City, Mr. Xiong
Tao, accompanied by his colleagues. A meeting followed to discuss a possible
partnership between AmCham South China and the city of Yiwu. Vice Mayor
Xiong Tao briefly introduced Yiwu’s progressive economy, beneficiary
policies and event/fair competencies, highlighting business potential and
trade opportunities for U.S. investment, after which President Harley
Seyedin expressed his interest in a future cooperation.
2016 CHEMBA Inauguration Ceremony
On the afternoon of October 14th, AmCham South China attended the
CHEMBA 16 Inauguration Ceremony at Sun Yat-sen University. After
welcoming remarks from the university deans, the ceremony continued with
speeches from the faculty and students of the university, concluding with a
closing address by the academic director of CHEMBA and a group photo.
Canton Fair Opening Reception
On the evening of October 14th, the 120th session of the China Import and
Export Fair (Canton Fair) kicked off with an opening reception at the Banquet
Hall of Westin Hotel Pazhou, Guangzhou, attended by AmCham South
China and various dignitaries. The opening reception warmly welcomed all
participants during the Canton Fair from Oct 15th to 19th, Oct 23rd to 27th,
and Oct 31st to Nov 4th, an exciting start to another vibrant business season
in Guangzhou.
