I am truly pleased to share some of the highlights of our recent and unprecedentedly-successful delegation to CIFIT. More than in any year past, our delegation exceeded not only our own expectations but those of our colleagues at the CIFIT organizing committee and the senior government officials with whom we met.
Those figures, including Under Secretary of State Hormats (the highest-ranking U.S. official ever to attend the fair, as Consul General Goldbeck noted) and Minister of Commerce Chen Deming, were not the only ones to take notice of our activities. I suspect you will already be aware that China Daily covered our delegation, as have 11 other newspapers, 3 TV stations and nearly two-hundred websites.
Not only was this year’s 210-strong delegation the largest ever for both our Chamber as well as CIFIT as a whole, but we also secured a record-number of deals ($2 billion’s worth) with one company alone signing 18 new agreements over the three day period—almost certainly another record, in and of itself.
We have collectively achieved these great heights only because every one of you, the individuals and companies who participated this year (as in years past) continue to be involved. Thank you, and congratulations. These records have been broken by you, and very nearly everyone in China (and many important individuals abroad) have been impressed by your savvy and dedication.
Very truly yours,
President
The American Chamber of Commerce in South China
Vice Chairman, China Affairs
The Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce
