Recent legislation has been implemented to set out numerous restrictions on chemical substances used in consumer products. A continued effectiveness in the consumer products safety control will require the upgrade of technical ability and comprehensive collaboration on risk management for people involved in the system.
Under the cooperation with Guangdong Inspection and Quarantine Technology Center (IQTC) of the Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the AmCham South China Consumer Safety Assurance (CSA) Committee Meeting was organized at Grand Hyatt Guangzhou, on July 15. Experts from IQTC, including Lina Huang, Marco Zhong and Raymon Chen, shared with audiences on U.S. legislation on toy safety, including Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and U.S. toy safety standard ASTM F963. Moreover, new development of Chinese safety regulations on food contact material and articles, including GB9685-2008-Hygienic standards for additives in food container and packaging materials, as well as GB9690-2009-Hygienic standard for Melamine-formaldehyde product, were also introduced during the meeting.
Ms. Li Si, General Manager of AmCham South China, hosted this meeting and more than 60 members attended that afternoon.
