American Chamber's Curtain Rising in Shenzhen

Grand opening ceremonies for the Shenzhen High-Tech Platform and the Service Center Office of the American Chamber of Commerce were held on Thursday, October 14, 2004. The ceremonies were attended by high-level representatives of the central, provincial, and local Chinese government officials, high-ranking foreign consulate officials, representatives of many foreign chambers of commerce, and members of the American Chamber of Commerce board of governors.

The ceremonies were presided over by Vice Minister of China Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Wei Jianguo, Secretary General of China Department of ScienceVice Minister of, Mr. Shi Dinghuan, Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Li Hongzhong, and Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Liu Yingli.

After the dedication and opening of the Shenzhen High-Tech Platform, Vice Minister Wei Jianguo, Mayor Li Hongzhong, President Harley Seyedin, and US Consulate Economic and Political Chief, Mr. Harvey Somers participated in the “Curtain Raising” ceremonies of the American Chamber of Commerce Shenzhen Service Center Office. During the Curtain Raising Ceremonies Vice Minister Wei Jianguo indicated that the expansion of the services of the American Chamber of Commerce-Guangdong into Shenzhen was another positive step in the promotion of mutual and friendly free trade between the United States and China. President Harley Seyedin said during his speech that he was proud to represent the Board of Governors and AmCham members at this great occasion and thanked Vice Minister Wei Jianguo, Mayor Li and Vice Mayor Liu for their vision and foresight and their continuous support of the American Chamber of Commerce.
