This delegation was the first time AmCham South China officially visited Qinghai province, and the chamber was well represented by senior executives from highly-successful, and in some cases, highly-visible companies, such as GE, Microsoft and Greentree Financial Group. Drawn no doubt by sustained emphasis at the national level for the “opening up” of Western China, dozens of projects were highlighted for the delegation, as well as preferential investment policies touted.
“The South China region has a great economic foundation and a convenient transportation system, and they are major advantages in attracting foreign investment,” said Qinghai Province Vice Governor Wang Jingjun. “Qinghai has a large amount of mineral resources, hydroelectric, petroleum and gas resources, and finally tourism resources. These are treasures of Qinghai and the source of its development opportunities in the future. In recent years, the Qinghai government has done much work on infrastructure and investment promotion. We sincerely hope that everyone here can see the potential in Qinghai. Our government will do our very best to assist you in investing here.”
The following business matchmaking session highlighted Qinghai’s many energy resources and policies, and AmCham delegates met directly with representatives from the local enterprises that populate the development zones.
Several companies who attended the delegation are already pursuing projects in Qinghai!
