The 87th China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD) held
International the 87th International Forum on China Reform, themed
Forum on China “China in Building a New Development Paradigm and the
Reform World”, on Hainan Island from October 29-31. As always, the
Forum was attended by the leaders of nearly every think tank
in China and leading experts from around the world. At the
direct invitation of Professor Chi Fulin, President of CIRD,
AmCham President Dr. Harley Seyedin delivered a speech
representing the views of AmCham’s members. The Swiss
Chamber and the American Chamber of Commerce in South
China were the only two foreign chambers invited to attend
and speak at this very high-level Forum.
President Harley also pointed out what drives international
trade and investment by virtue of statistics and AmCham’s
studies. AmCham South China represents over 2,300
members which account for nearly 40% of all US-China
business, trade and investments. Over the past 26 years
AmCham South China has helped deliver hundreds of billions
of dollars in cross-border investment between US and China.
The two-day high-level forum was certainly a resounding
success, and AmCham President sincerely extended his wishes
to the 30th anniversary of CIRD and was honored to represent
its members to attend and promote the Chamber.
