AmCham South China held the
2019 Asia Pacific Business Summit
on May 17 in Guangzhou. The Summit
attracted more than 400 senior political
and business executives from the Asia-
Pacific region, as well as the United
States and China, with the participation
of industry experts, academicians, and
mainstream media.
The Summit, hosted by AmCham South China, Remarks by Steve Daines, United States
received strong support from the Chinese Investment Senator for Montana
Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce,
the American Chambers of Commerce in Shanghai, Remarks by Brian Schweitzer, 23rd Governor of Montana
Southwest China, Macau, South Korea, and Okinawa,
and the business communities in China and the other Remarks by Neil Bush, Chairman of President

The Summit set out to help the attendants better
respond to the challenges of investing and operating in
the United States, China and the Asia-Pacific region in
a rapidly changing economic environment. The theme
of the Summit covered the opportunities for MNCs to
develop in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater
Bay Area, the interpretation of China's new Foreign
Investment Law and its improvement in intellectual
property protection, and the impact of the US-China
trade relations on not only the two countries but also
the Asia Pacific region. In his remarks, Chen Yuehua,
Deputy Director General of Guangdong Department
of Commerce, expressed sincere gratitude to the
host the American Chamber of Commerce in South
China, and said that Guangdong has always attached
great importance to developing economic and trade
cooperation with the United States. "Guangdong
will work with Hong Kong and Macao to create an
international first-class Bay Area and a world-scale
urban agglomeration, which will certainly provide
significant investment and trade opportunities and
platforms for global investors such as those from the
United States," Chen said.
In his exclusive presentation, Dr. Michael Enright,
a professor at the University of Hong Kong, revealed
that the Great Bay Area, as an important "initiative
