Seminar on Family
Business Challenges of
Sustainability from a
Chinese Perspective
On January 14 and 15, AmCham South China and
HKUST co-hosted a seminar on family business
challenges and sustainability, from a Chinese perspective.
The seminar was held at Guangzhou White Swan Hotel and
the AmCham Shunde Office respectively. Special focus was on
succession issues of Chinese family businesses and related case
studies. Professor Roger King and Assistant Professor Winnie
Qian Peng of HKUST unveiled the common characteristics of
the Chinese family business and the notion of Chinese family
governance. The speakers also unfolded their secrets of how to
retain business control beyond the third generation.
