Similar to previous years, nearly 60% of respondents have headquarters or main
operation offices in Guangzhou City, while those based in Shenzhen City comprise
20%. Other popular locations include Fuzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong, and Haikou.

What was surprising in this year’s study is that all survey respondents reported
that they established in other parts of China, a historical high and a 30%
increase over the previous three years. While the most popular location of additional
offices is Yangtze River Delta, the Northern and Western parts of China are enjoying
increasing popularity. Based on the findings of the past three years, we found that the
number of enterprises setting up offices outside of South China is increasing. This might
suggest that companies located in South China are taking advantages of their main
operation offices to expand into other parts of China.
