I am pleased to invite you to attend a seminar presented by Ernst & Young on VAT Pilot roll out in Southern China and the potential impact on your business on 24 Oct in Guangzhou and 25 Oct in Shenzhen.

China’s government has been considering undertaking a comprehensive VAT reform for a number of years. VAT and business tax currently account for over 50 percent of the China government’s tax revenue collection and adjusting such an important system needs to be carefully studied and monitored. 

The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao announced at the State Council Standing Committee meeting on 25 July 2012 the expansion of the VAT Pilot program.  Following the announcement, the Ministry of Finance ("MOF") and the State Administration of Taxation ("SAT") jointly issued Caishui [2012] No. 71 ("Circular 71") on 31 July 2012 announcing that the VAT Pilot will be expanded to 8 additional locations as follows. The Guangdong Province and Shenzhen have been included in the VAT Pilot roll out and it is anticipated that the VAT Pilot will bring significant changes to related industries and companies.
