This joint committee meeting aims at establishing a channel for committe members to gain access to the latest government regulations and policies; tackling problems related to Interllectual Property Rights. 

Meeting Minutes

 

Committee Meetings focus on sharing among members, in terms of knowledge, experience, and opinion.

 

¨         Positive IRP-Promotion

a)       Everyone’s best interest;

b)       Most issues are on a local level;

c)       Visit Government related committee to assist with building up relationship on local, municipal and provincial levels.

 

¨         General Manager Forum

a)       The first event to be held in September and organized and supported by the HR committee;

b)       Each committee would co-organized this event on a quarterly basis;

c)       Designed to bring general managers into practical discussion on issues specific to our area;

 

¨         Concerns from participants:

a)       Registration of trademarks;

b)       Assistance from local governments;

c)       More facilitated procedures in doing business

 

¨         Suggestions from participants:

a)       The laws about IPR are fine, however, the enforcement of of the laws should be implemented fully;

b)       Our Committee focus should be to work on obtaining more assistance from the local governments, instead of more rules established from the central   government;

c)    More visit to the local government, in order to get more update information and build up better relationship;

d)    Our Committee should adopt a "positive" and "cooperative" approach in working with the Chinese authorities to address IPR issues.

¨         Discussion on IPR event in Shenzhen organized by a Hong Kong law firm in September.
