Dear Members and Friends,

 

On behalf the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, I am very delighted to invite you to welcome our newly Consul General of U.S. Consulate, Mr. Robert Goldberg to his first ever visit to Guangzhou. You will also be joining the highest ranking officials from the the U.S. Consulate, Guangzhou, Guangdong Provincial and Guangzhou Municipal Government. This gala welcome dinner will take place at the China Hotel on September 26, 2006.

 

Mr. Robert Goldberg assumed his duties as U.S. Consul General in Guangzhou, China on August 22, 2006. Previously, Mr. Goldberg had been Deputy Director and then Director of the State Department's Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs. He has also served as the Deputy Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs in the State Department's Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (2001-2003), as Deputy Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing (1996-1999) and as a staff member in the East Asia and Pacific Bureau of the State Department responsible for U.S. policies in the ASEAN Regional Forum and the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (1994-1996). Mr. Goldberg's other assignments in the State Department have included tours in India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

 

Now, Mr. Goldberg comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and impressive experience on China. We look forward to working closely with our new Consul General and feel fortunate to have him with us for the next several years!
