My Dear Friends, We are pleased to invite you to join The American Chamber of Commerce in South China, Mr. David C Buxbaum for Intellectual Property Rights Committee Meeting on Wednesday, November 28. Chinese IPR laws presently face major revisions. First, the State Council's Legislative Affairs Office proposed the third revision of the Trademark Law on the 25 anniversary of the Trademark Law in August, 2007, and the State Council already put the revision of the Trademark Law on its agenda. Second, the third revision of the Patent Law is in process. It will be passed by the next People’s Congress. There are also new problems with importing foreign technology. Mr. Buxbaum was the first American lawyer to be invited to the People’s Republic of China in 1972 following US President Richard Nixon’s historic visit of that year. Since then, he has had more than 30 years of experience working with Chinese law, with a focus on Intellectual Property issues. Notable clients of Mr. Buxbaum’s include Microsoft, Autodesk, Lotus, Novell, Citibank, P&G, and GM. Please refer to Mr. Buxbaum’s attached CV for a complete list of cases, publications and achievements. The brief rundown of this IPR Committee meeting is the following: 15:30-16:00 Registration 16:00-16:05 Opening remarks by President Harley, AmCham 16:05-17:15 Presentation by Mr. David C.
