AmCham South China Delegation to Boost Sino-US Green and Low Carbon Cooperation at its Twenty-First CIFIT in Xiamen

AmCham South China to Co-Host the China Provinces-U.S. States Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar

XIAMEN, CHINA – September 7, 2024 – The award-winning American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) delegation, led by the Chamber’s President Dr. Harley Seyedin, arrived in Xiamen today to attend the 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT). The delegation, in its twenty-first year, is comprised of senior business leaders, including executives from world-renowned enterprises.

During the three-day trip, in a bid to further promote exchanges and cooperation between local industries in China and the United States in the fields of energy transformation and sustainable development, AmCham South China will co-host the China Provinces-U.S. States Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar, in collaboration with Xiamen Municipal People's Government, Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, US-China Business Council, and AmCham China. AmCham South China President Dr. Harley Seyedin will deliver an opening remark at this important seminar.

Additionally, AmCham South China’s CIFIT delegation will meet with many government officials including the leaders of Fujian province and Hebei province for more focused and personalized interactions. The delegation will also conduct a key inspection in Hua'an County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province to gain insights into the local investment environment, distinctive industries, and future development plans, and to further explore potential cooperation opportunities with the local government.

Dr. Harley Seyedin, Chairman and President of AmCham South China, winner of 2017 Oslo Business for Peace Award (together with Elon Musk, Durreen Shahnaz and Murad Al-Katib), which is awarded by an Award Committee of Nobel Laureates in Peace and Economics, stated, “As the golden key for China’s high-level opening up to the outside world, CIFIT serves as a bridge and bond of communication between the country and the rest of the world, and a crucial window for global investors to understand the Chinese market and search for business opportunities. Since 2010, AmCham member companies have signed over two billion dollars on average in each of the past years at CIFIT.”

President Harley added that AmCham South China’s CIFIT delegation has made tremendous achievements over the past 20 years and its members have achieved huge business success at CIFIT for many years. “We attribute the success of our delegation to the excellent organization and the high-quality arrangement and service provided by the CIFIT Organizing Committee. I would like to extend my congratulations to MOFCOM, the Investment Promotion Agency of MOFCOM, Xiamen and Fujian leaders, and the CIFIT Organizing Committee for undertaking and delivering the highest level of professional excellence. AmCham South China will, as always, return to the beautiful city of Xiamen every year to support this important event.” Dr. Seyedin said.

Dr. Seyedin also shared the recent launch of AmCham South China Shenzhen Qianhai Service and Meeting Center on September 4. The center will help establish a highly effective exchange platform for enterprises based in Fujian province and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and promote business collaboration and resource integration. “Fujian province and the GBA are at the forefront of China’s reform and opening-up initiatives. Both offer significant synergies across various industries. AmCham South China will continue to work closely with the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Fujian to facilitate business exchanges and industrial chain matchmaking, all in an effort to foster in-depth cooperation between the two sides in strategic emerging industries such as electronic information, biomedicine, new materials and modern service industries.” Dr. Seyedin concluded.
