Since Guangdong is known as the cradle of revolutionary thinking in modern China, it is not surprising that the People's Republic of China (PRC)'s first contemporary dance company was founded here in 1992. The company has gained domestic and international recognition and high acclaim.  What has inspired the introduction of contemporary dance to Guangdong and how does it find its place in the deep rooted traditional dance? Artistic Director Pun Siu Fan, who has been involved in dance for almost 30 years, will explain how contemporary dance negotiates between the traditional and the modern forms of dance. He will be joined by Karen Cheung, manager of the dance company, who will introduce the history of the dance company and give an overview of the contemporary dance scene. We will see some video clips and actual dancers of the company.
